Friday began with allot of rain with no sun in sight. But in the afternoon, the weather took a turn for the best. The sun came out and clouds blew by, making way for a star shiny night. Although the weather was clear, it was still very hot and humid, making it very difficult for some cars to be well tuned and it also made the track a bit slippery. The night started off with qualifying of the BOX , NO-BOX, IMPORT CLASS and PRO-ET BIKE categories. The stands where full of spectators who were surely delighted by the races that were taking place. At the opening ceremony, Big Joe Racing Team gave a big "THANK YOU" to all there sponsors, the people who helped them in every way possible and finally thanked all the fans, who gave them their support by making this event the largest one for Drag Race in 2010.
As the night progressed into the final qualifying round of IMPORT CLASS, one of Aruba's drivers, Dennis Brouwer had some major parts malfunctioning to his 2JZ powered Corolla, lost control of his car, slamming it into the wall and ended upside down on its roof. Luckily nobody was injured during this incident, and Dennis walked away unharmed. The car received some body damage, but nothing too serious.
Due to this wreck, the car left about a 5ft wide oil spill from half-track all the way tot he finish line, forcing organizers to stop the event at 1:30 a.m. The race will continue today (Saturday) starting 4:00 p.m.
So bring the whole Family today, to enjoy great racing and watch Aruba battle the U.S.A. at the Palo Marga Finals 2010.
Here we give you some pictures taken all around at the track. Enjoy!
PapoRacingTeam also wants to send a big "THANK YOU" to Big Joe Racing Team, for the cooperation and the "red-carpet treatment" given to our photographer.
