Wrap-up: 2012 International DragFest

We are back friends, fans and followers! Actually, we never left. Yesterday I (Franco) had to fly back to Aruba early in the morning, so I spend the whole day yesterday sleeping in all the hours I had missed during this long weekend.

Enough jibber-jabber, let's try and wrap things up.

Day2 started on a good note, but it didn't take long for things to go wrong. The Meyer racing RX3 was ready to make another qualifying pass. At half track the engine gave away, and dumped oil at half track till the finish line in the left lane. It took the track crew about an hour to clean the mess up. Meanwhile, the show must go on. So it was time for some Drift and Fever action. Sideways driving and lots of smoke from the tires made for an awesome show. MC Monte kept the crowd entertained with good music and of course, a dance-off!!

On the very next pass, the Bello's racing Starlet also had problems with their engine and dumped oil while doing his burnout in the right lane. As if this wasn't bad enough, the tractor that they use for cleanup also broke down, making it very time consuming to clean up this oil down. After another hour waiting, they finally got the track cleaned, but the track wasn't holding up.

The race director gathered all drivers and explained the situation and they decided to do some long burnouts, tough launches, to put some rubber on the track. after a couple of burnouts and passes the track was ready to go!

Racing continued on a good pace, until it started to rain. Aha, that's right, RAIN! So race director decided to postpone the rest of the race for the next day.

Which leads us to Day3, Tuesday!

This day began very early. Doors opened from 12 p.m. and racing began at 1 p.m. They raced the postponed rounds of all categories from the night before and champions were crowned.

Highlights from Day2 and Day3 of racing include a new Personal Best for Danny de Kort in his Pissed off Pete Chevy Cobalt with a 6.79 ET!

Another highlight was the SuperScion, it made 3 consecutive passes, including a 7.53ET, 7.45 ET and a 7.44 ET. Very consistent eventough the track wasn't at its best.

There were also a couple of Krioyo Outlaw Bikes who made solid 7 second passes, but we did not take note of all the times.

Rendolf Torbed challenged Jason Geerman for a heads up race. Torbed got the win by a holeshot by running a 7.92ET, defeating Jayson who had a 7.91ET. A very close race!!

SO there you have it! We certainly had a BLAST again at Rondeclip. We met up with old friends and made some new ones. This trip will definitely go into the record books.

We will post more pictures on both my facebook page, Franco Inocencia and of course Papo Racing's facebook page. Make sure you tag whoever we missed in them and share our album!

Next stop, International Speed Madness at PaloMarga June 1st, 2nd and 3rd 2012!!
