Aruba's 1st Xtreme Import International Race: Latest Updates

UPDATE: The third and final night was a hot and action-filled night, with the stands filled with fans from the beginning of the night 'till the last pass. Here are some highlights worth mentioning.

First of, bikes: Urvin Maduro improved his personal best ET with a 7.71 sec ET and took the first place in the Criollo Outlaw category. Jason Angela made a solid 7.68 sec pass @ 175 MPH with the Still Balling Hayabusa! Edward "Blenchi" Dirksz made a nice 8.00 sec pass. Congratulations to all riders with their amazing numbers.

UPDATE: Here are some highlight of the second Race Night. The night began with the qualifying rounds of Box, No-Box, Pro ET Bike and of course both the import class and Extreme Import.

None of the import managed to make a complete pass due to technical failures and or traction issues, except for the Lucimar RX7 who made a solid seven second pass. The RX8 of Ken Scheepers broke and caused an oil down.

The night continued with the other categories with the elimination rounds being run at 12:30 am. Our prime minister Mr. Mike Eman also joined in on the fun and decided to make a pass in the DECO's Altered. He recorded a 10.49 pass, not bad for a rookie.

The Team Aruba XPS's also made their test runs, making a 1.03 sec 60' (Mustang) and a 1.06 sec 60' (Escort)

The second round of import went way better with the fastest pass of the event by Hailey with a 7.34 ET @ 175 MPH blast. The other extreme import didn't stay far behind with Lucimar recording a 7.54 sec ET. Delirium Motorsports couldn't manage to keep its truck straight and managed to record a 8.23 sec ET, while lifting.

Here are some pictures of what happened, enjoy:

UPDATE: We are sorry to inform you that last night at the first race day of the Aruba's 1st Extreme Import International Race a great drag racing enthusiast and beloved friend Anton van Eerden, better known as "Dutchman" a proud member of Team Aruba, passed away. We give our kindest condolences to all family, relatives and friends.

Racing news and highligts: Hailey RX7 - 7.40 ET, Delirium Pick-up - 7.95, Lucimar Rx7 - 7.65, Kenneth Datsun - 7.7's, Baby Size CRX - 7.77, Vick Werleman Starlet - 8.24. Danny Turbo Starlet and Franse Pass Corolla both encountered some problems. Bike news, Kip Hassel 7.56 WOW!

Something tells me that they "gave away" the low ET spot to Hailey and that now he's gonna get it!! Let's see if tonight the rest of team US and PR will step up and put down some low ET's.

The Super Scion broke its driveshaft during the burnout and did not make a pass, let's see if they can still make repairs and join the imports from abroad with 7 sec passes.

PICTURES ARE ON THEIR WAY, stay tuned....

UPDATE: Like we promised a couple of days ago, we were going to visit a couple of teams to see what they're cooking for this BIG EVENT. We bring you today Good2 Racing Starlet, MadMax & Easy Racing and Flaco Racing.

We were first on site at the Good2 Racing garage, where they almost had the car ready. The only piece missing was the engine, which by that time was getting some much needed TLC. The crew stayed up 'till late past midnight but they finally got the engine in. We managed to snap some pictures for you all, ENJOY!

We were also on site at the MadMax Easy Racing garage to give you all the latest info on the team. We spoke to Junior Fingal and he told us about two "new" bikes that were being built/completely refreshed at that moment, so they can compete at this event. They were two AllMotor Suzuki Hayabusas, that will be ridden by two Rookies you might say. As for the other bikes, they were also getting parts refreshed and a bit of fixing here and there. We also snapped some pictures for your enjoyment.

One of the two "new" bikes on the lift being completed.

Junior was doing some tests with different fuel types, to compare hp gain.

The two bikes from Balachi Racing Curacao. Rendolf Torbed checking out his bike and making sure everything works

Frank "Chiki" doing what he does best, rebuilding the engine for the other "new" bike.

Our day was quite busy, going around from one garage to the other. We also stopped by Flaco Garage, where we found Darcy Franken scratching his head, wondering "what else can go wrong?". The Flaco Crew was working hard to rebuild the Arca de Noeh Starlet, as they dropped in another engine and almost had to rewire the car completely. One problem came after the other, setting the crew back allot of time and work. But when we spoke to Darcy that evening, everything was fixed and final pieces are being put together. Here are some pictures of a day at Flaco Garage.

Transmission issues late afternoon, but by night it was all good and was going back in the car.

We also got a glimpse at Darcy's 201? project, but that's for another time...

We wish all teams ALL THE BEST, and hope to give a good show for Drag Racing fans.

UPDATE: We've recieved some new information streight out of Curacao. YES, we got confirmation on 3 Crioyo Outlaw Bikes from Curacao that are also coming down for this event. One from Still Balling Racing and two from Balachi Racing.

One of the two bikes from Balachi Racing is Rendolf Trobed's All motor + NOS Hayabusa.

And Jenny Martis' Turbo Hayabusa from Still Balling Racing.

So the battle is ALSO ON! in the Crioyo Outlaw category.
Oooh boy if you miss out on this event, you're going to be kicking yourself in the head for a long time!
