Good morning PapoRacing fans, friends and followers and a Happy Queen's Day to all.
The 2012 Intrenational DragFest finally kicked-off with some drag racing.
Our crew went to the track last night expecting good passes, great matches and battles and maybe some new records and boy we were not disappointed! We got a little bit of everything!
The races began 5 'o clock sharp with qualifying rounds for all categories. At about 8 'o clock every category qualified and they were ready to begin with eliminations.
Here's a wrap up of Day1:
The Meyer Racing RX3 made a nice pass of 7.33 @ 186MPH.
This is a new Record and Personal best for them.
Danny de Kort also made a nice solid pass of 6.94 @ 175 MPH! A nice number even though he lifted the gas paddle at 1000 ft.
The guys from Cosa Nostra Racing re-newed their record by running 9.20 ET with their Street Toyota Supra Turbo. It seems like they are breaking records every time they run their car.
As for the category SuperGas 9.90 we have a repeated Champion. Yes, Kedy Koolman from Don't Panic Racing Team Aruba took home the 1st place trophy again after winning yesterday in the street legal event. Watch out for this team, you will see them again and again in the winners circle!
The SuperScion Team had problems during their first pass in qualifying. They worked through the night trying to fix it, but they'll have to wait because parts are being sent from Aruba so they can get the car done.
While at the track, we got a urge for something delicious to eat. It has become almost a tradition that the guys from Orbits Doughnuts sell these awesome mini doughnuts covered in sugar at all drag racing events. We couldn't let this opportunity pass us by, so we got a mini bucket of mini doughnuts, HMMMM GOOD!!
That was pretty much it for Day1, today is the 2nd night of racing and we will be there. But for now it's FoodFest time! See you there and see you at the track tonight!
We will post more pictures of the event later on this week on our Facebook page.
