We've heard the news that the Rayglass 2JZ powered Celica went 6.406 ET @ 221.34 MPH for a new World Record! Rod Harvey broke his own World Record for a Sport Compact Drag Car at Willowbank Raceway on the 25th of Aug 2011, in testing for the 21st Sport Compact Brisbane Jamboree.
You've seen the videos on your facebook wall, seen the commentaries, but what's this all about? Well, welcome to the biggest import festival; the JAMBOREE, land of the 20Bs, 2JZs and monster blown engines...
After acquiring most of the Titan owned vehicles, Australia and New Zealand drag racing rivals (Gas Motorsports, Top RPM and RayGlass) are ready to battle each other for the top Pro Turbo spot. Here are some pictures of the Celica's...
It's all about size; every one of these import monsters are powered by a turbo-charged 3.0L 2JZ I6 supra engine.
At the last Jamboree held in Sydney there were some impressive ETs recorded including:
- Gas Motorsports Celica 6.48s (Best ET - 6.42s)
- Rayglass Celica 6.46s (Best ET - 6.41s)
The newest addition to the Gas Motorsports powerhouse team is the BMW E46 M3, which recorded a 6.61s ET. This vehicle is also powered by the 2JZ engine...it goes to show that GAS is truly the 2JZ masters. Here's a picture of the M3...
But don't forget about the rotary boys, which is lead by the Pac Performance team. They're the dominating force at the moment when it comes to the 20B power plant. They own the worlds fastest rotary, the Pac Performance Mazda 6 (ex Allen Johnson Stratus, best ET 6.58s)
The Pac Performance Mazda6 won Pro Turbo at the last Sydney Jamboree 2011 in April with a 6.63s ET. Unfortunately the car suffered a big crash on May 1st, just a month after the Sydney Jamboree, at the Nitro Champs event at Sydney Dragway.
The other strong contender for the top Pro Turbo spot is the Pac Performance MX-6, which recorded a 6.70s ET at the Sydney Jamboree in April 2011.
So, everything is set for the Brisbane Jamboree, held on 01 & 02 October 2011, where all of these monsters will meet, there are plenty more that weren't mentioned...It will be wild, stay tuned for more info and also results right here on PapoRacing.blogspot.com.
Here's the official poster for the upcoming event...
These events are too big not to worth mentioning....that's why we're here, to keep you up-to-date on what's happening, not only here in the Caribbean, or the US and PR...but everywhere!!
