Matt Smith loses PSM Sponsor after winning Englishtown

Matt Smith comes off of his 13th NHRA Full Throttle Series win in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class last weekend in Englishtown, New Jersey and this weekend he is in search of a sponsor.

After winning the 42nd annual NHRA Super Nationals, Smith moved up to fifth in the Championship point standings, and then just a few days later his sponsor for the last two years (Al-Anabi Racing) informs him that they are pulling out.
“I got a call this past week from the Al-Anabi Racing Organization stating that they were done with me and many other teams,” said Matt Smith. “I’m not sure exactly what is going on, but I do know that we now have no sponsor. I am sure there will be more details to come, but that’s all I know at this point.”

The 2007 NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion was completely caught off guard, and now has no idea what he is going to do the rest of the season.

“We are in a real tough spot. We will not be racing at the ADRL Topeka race this weekend. We will however be at the NHRA Norwalk race, but that will be it, unless I can find a sponsor for the rest of the year.”

Smith is the most recent winner in the motorcycle class and hopes that he can find something in order to keep racing. He is in prime condition to try and win his second NHRA Championship, but will need some help from a sponsor or two in order to get it done.

“I just don’t know what to do at this point. We have no money, and you obviously need money to race. We are looking hard for sponsorship. Hopefully we can find something that will keep us out here.”
